Update your details - a call to airport fodder
I just had a sort of weird email from BAA saying:
> As a valued BAA Airport customer who has purchased airport parking or
> lounge passes on BAA Advance, we would like to give you the
> opportunity to update your contact details.
>
> This is an annual audit that we undertake on our database and will
> enable us to provide you with current and regular updates on your
> preferred airport.
What? Why is that of the slightest interest to me? Why would I want to
update my details so that I get more email clutter?
There's no incentive here. There's no purpose that seems to serve the
customer. What is the point of sending this out?
How about: 'Free Lounge Pass the next time you travel. Just update your
details on our site.'
Why would I need to know about an annual audit on customer data?
Seems that some marketers could do with reading Seth Godin's blog. Or
at least being a little bit more self aware.
